I love this word which means “scenes with energy” and invented by Atala Dorothy Toy. I resonated with this word immediately and was excited that a word existed for what I believe I capture in my images. I love seeing images in the rocks and the trees. It's like a secret way of communicating and brings out my inner child. I believe that the trees and the rocks are keepers of ancient wisdom.

“Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them can learn the truth”  - Herman Hesse

Being an only child until I was five I developed relationships with a couple of trees in my front yard. I played alone with my toys in the trees. I had a name for one of them and told my best friend that I could talk to it.  I have always been aware that they are alive. When I was 10 and with the same best friend at Phillip Island we found matching rocks (I’ve still got mine).  This was the beginning of my love for rocks.

I love tapping into the frequencies when I’m taking photos. I imagine the stories behind the scenes with energy I see and then using different editing techniques  go deeper to reveal more of the story. It is very exciting and surprising sometimes with what comes out of the images.

I think it's important to say that I never use AI editing my still photography. I use a free program and have only recently downloaded Photoshop. I have used AI to develop short videos of the still photographs I have taken which is fun and I don't know of any other way to create these moving videos! I’ve included one here so you can see what I’m doing.

I’m excited for 2026. There is a different energy than the past year and I’m tapping into a different side of myself. I’m ready to move into a new phase of my photography journey.
